President Delcy Rodríguez says Venezuela will continue defending its “inalienable rights” before international bodies.


Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez reaffirmed the country’s commitment to defending its sovereignty, historical legacy and social justice principles internationally, as Venezuela prepares for new proceedings before international bodies.

Speaking during a review of the first 100 days of the Program for Democratic Coexistence and Peace, the acting president said representing Venezuela abroad remains a source of political conviction and historical responsibility.

“I have to travel in the coming hours to defend our homeland, and when I have had to do so, you do not know the pride I feel, the deep pride of defending the inalienable rights of Venezuela, defending them tirelessly, because it means honoring our history,” Rodríguez said.

The meeting brought together representatives from multiple sectors to assess the first months of the initiative, which authorities said has advanced efforts to promote respect, coexistence and plurality across the country.

During her address, the acting president argued that the strength of a nation is defined by its historical values and collective memory rather than by territorial dimensions alone. “A country is not measured by its territorial extension; a country is measured by its historical dignity, by its historical morality, by the history that nourishes it to guarantee the future,” she stated.

Rodríguez also invoked the political thought of independence leader Simón Bolívar and the Congress of Angostura to reaffirm that political power must serve justice and social equality. “There is no point in being a government to administer human misery, there is no point in being a government to defend power,” she said.

According to the acting president, Venezuela continues contributing to the international community through its defense of human rights and its commitment to the Venezuelan people, describing those principles as part of the country’s broader historical and political identity.

Her remarks came as Venezuela awaits hearings at the International Court of Justice over the territorial dispute with Guyana concerning the Esequibo region. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil has reiterated that the controversy should be resolved through negotiation and dialogue under the framework of the Geneva Agreement.
