“The actions of the West toward nations that want to pursue their own policies are absolutely unacceptable. It is openly exerting such pressure against Venezuela on all fronts,” she said during a news conference at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

The Russian diplomat pointed out that the current escalation of tensions around Venezuela poses a danger to both regional and global security.

A day earlier, U.S. Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth told an American TV channel that President Donald Trump would decide whether to pursue a “regime change” in Venezuela.

On Aug. 7, U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced a US$50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Washington then ordered the deployment of warships in the Caribbean under the pretext of countering drug cartel activity in the region.

In response to the Trump administration’s actions, Maduro ordered the mobilization of the Bolivarian Militias to safeguard Venezuela’s defense and sovereignty.

The Bolivarian leader also emphasized that U.S. naval deployments in the Caribbean are not related to counter-narcotics efforts but are intended as acts of pressure against Venezuela.
