Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros underscored the capacity of the Bolivarian National Militia (MNB) to respond immediately across the national territory “to any circumstance we may have to live through and face,” as the country strengthens its defense structures against external pressures and internal destabilization attempts.

During a ceremony marking the integration of the Militia into the Peace Quadrants system, Maduro praised the militiamen and women defending Venezuela’s right to peace, territorial integrity, life, independence, and sovereignty.
“We have broken, as Chávez did in due time, with the military dependence on the U.S. empire and the imperial theses of occupation armies imposed in Latin America through coups and other forms of ideological, institutional, and political domination,” Maduro declared.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) called for a national enlistment process this weekend, urging all militia forces to gather at military headquarters, public squares, Bolivar plazas, and the 15,751 integral defense bases across the country.
Maduro also summoned the National Defensive System — including political, governmental, civilian, military, and police structures — to fine-tune coordination: “We adjust our plans every day,” he noted.
A Legacy of Resistance and Popular Defense
The Venezuelan leader reaffirmed that Venezuela will overcome “extravagant, outrageous, and criminal threats of U.S. imperialism”, emphasizing that the key to victory lies in the union of popular power, military strength, and police structures.
Maduro recalled that the militia was refounded by Commander Hugo Chávez, describing it as a force rooted in the best traditions of Venezuela’s military-popular history.
“The first militias known were colonial formations in which white Creoles were given responsibility for internal defense and security in viceroyalties and provinces,” he explained, adding that Simón Bolívar’s first military rank was as a sub-lieutenant of the Aragua militias before becoming a leader of the Republican, anti-imperialist, and anti-colonial struggle.
According to the head of state, integrating the MNB into the Peace Quadrants builds a solid and permanent defensive structure to safeguard the country beyond any temporary threat. “This plan is not created solely for the current aggressive threats of the empire,” Maduro said, “but as a lasting pillar of the homeland.”
Its fundamental mission, he insisted, is to guarantee the Venezuelan people’s right to peace, strengthen national stability, and secure the achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution by reinforcing the unbreakable bond between combatants and the organized people.
