Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez has appointed Nuramy Gutierrez Gonzalez as the new Health Minister and Calixto Ortega Sanchez as head of the International Center for Productive Investment, restructuring the cabinet to strengthen strategic state sectors following President Maduro’s kidnapping.


Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez appointed Nuramy Gutierez Gonzalez as the new Health Minister and Calixto Ortega Sanchez as the new president of the International Center for Productive Investment (CIIP, in Spanish) on Monday, January 19.

In a message on her Telegram channel, Rodriguez acknowledged the former heads of the two institutions—Magaly Gutierrez and Alex Saab, respectively—and expressed gratitude for their service.

The Acting President explained that the decision abaout Ortega Sanchez responds to his experience in the financial area and stressed that his management will be oriented to consolidate the national productive system.

“We offer you our full support for the well-being and prosperity of Venezuela. I thank Alex Saab for his commitment and hard work at the head of this institution”, she said.

About Nuramy Josefa Gutierrez Gonzalez as new Minister of People’s Power for Health, designed Rodriguez affirmed that is a professional that “has dedicated her life to this sector, will deepen the policies of health care and protection aimed at the people.”

The ministerial cabinet restructuring responds to the need to strengthen strategic sectors of the Venezuelan state, as announced by the country’s highest executive authority, such as transport, ecosocialism and communication, in line with the priorities of the Bolivarian Executive.

Through these decisions, the National Executive is consolidating a comprehensive agenda that integrates infrastructure development, environmental protection, and sovereign communication.

Former Vice President Delcy Rodriguez assumed the role of Acting President via a Supreme Court ruling, in accordance with the Constitution, following the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro by the United States.

The Trump administration had conducted a military operation last January 3 on Venezuelan soil without Congressional approval, in violation of the United Nations Charter and Venezuela’s sovereignty, resulting in both military and civilian victims.
