“There was no discussion of regime change in Venezuela,” President Donald Trump said in a statement on September 18, while addressing the issue of the South American country while speaking with reporters aboard the Air Force on his way to an event in Florida.

He referred to a previous conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about possible ceasefires in other conflicts. However, behind the scenes of the fight against drug trafficking, Trump continues his vicious attack on the sovereign government and people of Venezuela.
While maintaining the rhetoric of non-direct political intervention, his administration launches smear campaigns, defamatory campaigns, and attacks vessels and crew members.
This statement aligns with his previous stance of downplaying any intention of regime change, reiterating that military actions in the Caribbean, such as strikes against drug trafficking vessels, are strictly intended to disrupt the flow of drugs to the U.S., not to overthrow President Nicolas Maduro.
