The United States and Israel carried out an attack against the Natanz uranium enrichment complex on Saturday, March 21, according to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), though authorities said no radioactive material had been released.

“There is no evidence of any radioactive leak at this complex, and there is no danger to residents of areas near this site,” the statement read.

Iran’s nuclear agency denounced the action as “contrary to international laws and commitments, including the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT),” as well as other regulations related to nuclear safety.

On the other hand, Israeli military officials, when contacted by a Spanish news agency in Jerusalem, said they had no knowledge of the attack but declined to specify whether the strike was carried out exclusively by the United States.

This escalation marks the second time the Natanz complex has been hit since the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran began on February 28, but it is the first to directly target the Fuel Enrichment Plant.

The plant was also struck during a 12-day conflict last June, alongside facilities at Fordow and Isfahan.
