The University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara (UCMVC) achieved Excellence accreditation in three postgraduate programs following an external evaluation by the National Accreditation Board, reaffirming its commitment to quality education in the health sector.

The accredited programs are Doctoral Training in Basic Biomedical Sciences as a Foundation for Clinical Medicine, Master’s in Public Health, and Specialization in Neurology.

The Faculty of Medicine played a key role in this achievement, thanks to the performance of its academic committees, faculty, students, and alumni. Assistant Professor Dr. Mario Enrique Sánchez Benítez, Head of the Postgraduate and Research Department, stated that “the excellence accreditation confirms the scientific rigor of our programs and our commitment to continue improving the training of human resources in health.”

He also emphasized that these results reflect the faculty’s capabilities and the students’ academic discipline, factors that uphold the university’s prestige. For his part, Rector Dr. Calixto Orozco stated that this achievement “represents a major challenge for the university” and affirmed that it motivates them to continue working so that other doctoral programs, master’s degrees, and postgraduate specializations achieve the same recognition in future external evaluations.

Quality management in postgraduate academic programs, as part of the UCMVC’s institutional strategy, continues to yield results that consolidate academic excellence.

In previous evaluations, the institution also achieved significant results in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, which confirms the coherence of its professional development policy and the impact of its graduates on the national health system.

With this new recognition, the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara reaffirms its status as a leader in the training of specialists and doctors, and commits to maintaining quality standards that strengthen research and teaching for the benefit of Cuban society.
