Kremlin cites “contradictory” signals on diplomacy as Tehran denies ongoing talks with the United States.

On Tuesday, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran shows no signs of ending in the near term.

“At present, there are no prospects for bringing the large-scale armed conflict in the region to an end. There are still no indications that Washington and Tel Aviv intend to end their military adventure,” Shoigu said during a meeting in Moscow with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Russian diplomat explained that far from winding down the conflict, the United States and Israel are making “bellicose” statements about their willingness to continue the military operation until they achieve their objectives. “I think no one, not even they themselves, has a clear idea of what those objectives are,” Shoigu said.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said messages about negotiations between Iran and the United States are contradictory. “We have, indeed, like you, heard a number of contradictory statements from all sides,” he said, emphasizing that the messages make it hard to understand “what is really happening.”

Earlier, on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump had said there are “important points of agreement” with Iran after postponing attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days to allow room for negotiations.

According to Trump, his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have taken part in the negotiations and have maintained contacts with a “respected” Iranian politician who is not the supreme leader, Mojtaba Jamenei, son of the assassinated Ali Jamenei.

In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied Trump’s claims, said there are currently no peace talks underway, and denounced the proposed dialogue with the United States as a “deception.”

“Iran views the U.S. request for negotiations as a new attempt at deception to regroup, find loopholes, and seek connections to escalate attacks again,” the Iranian embassy in Pakistan stated.

According to the Iranian news agency Fars, early on Tuesday, two projectiles struck energy facilities in Khorramshahr and Isfahan, damaging gas pipelines and administrative buildings, but causing no casualties.
