In a context of rising tension and imperialist aggression in the region, Senator and President of the Colombia Humana Political Movement, Gloria Inés Flórez Schneider, has issued a strong statement against the recent military intervention threats from the United States against Venezuela and the Caribbean.

In her message, Flórez called on the international community to unite in defense of the sovereignty of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean and to reject imperialist policies that threaten the peace and stability of the region.
The statement highlights the illicit use of military force by the U.S. in recent attacks on civilian vessels in international waters of the Caribbean Sea, impacting not only Venezuela but also other countries in the region.
The Colombia Humana leader emphasized that these actions by the U.S. government violate Public International Law and Human Rights, including the fundamental principles of diplomacy and respect for national sovereignty.
“The actions of the U.S. government not only constitute a dangerous military escalation in one of the few spaces in the world that has been declared a Continent of Peace, but they also violate Public International Law and International Human Rights Law,” said Flórez in her statement. She also warned about the risk that this imperialist intervention could lead to extrajudicial killings of Caribbean and Latin American citizens.
Colombia Humana also denounces the double standard of the U.S., which, through its intervention in the region, not only exacerbates violence and drug trafficking but also jeopardizes the self-determination of the peoples. “We demand the immediate cessation of this imperial aggression and all forms of interference in our region’s internal affairs,” the political leader added.
Senator Flórez reminded of the recent history of military interventions and destabilization by the CIA in Latin American countries, such as the overthrow of Salvador Allende in Chile, the invasion of Granada, and the intervention in Panama. “We do not want history to repeat itself,” she concluded, calling for solidarity from the world’s peoples in defense of peace and sovereignty.
The Colombia Humana Movement reaffirms its commitment to the fight for a world free of foreign military interventions, for the self-determination of peoples, and for a peaceful future for Latin America and the Caribbean.
