There are no operational restrictions on Mexican flights to Cuba, President Sheinbaum said.
On Friday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that her government is prepared to facilitate an air bridge to Cuba if Havana requests it, as part of the recent humanitarian aid efforts.

She clarified that the measure depends on a formal request from Cuba, while Mexico has already sent two ships with more than 814 tons of food and supplies as humanitarian aid.
The Mexican president added that there are no operational restrictions on Mexican flights to Cuba and that Cuban aircraft can refuel in Mexican territory, allowing for sustained operations and expanded logistical cooperation.
The announcement comes amid United States economic and oil sanctions on Cuba, which have caused disruptions in basic services and prompted humanitarian support from allied countries, including Mexico.
Sheinbaum has reiterated her policy of regional cooperation and rejection of restrictive external measures, noting that these worsen the situation of the Cuban population and hinder their access to essential resources.
The Mexican leader affirmed that her country plans to continue sending aid, with reserves of more than 1,500 tons of powdered milk and beans pending shipment, although she ruled out including oil at the moment due to U.S. tariffs.
She has also insisted on facilitating dialogue between the United States and Cuba and recalled that Mexico has already promoted it through contacts with the U.S. State Department and the Cuban embassy in Mexico.
Sheinbaum emphasized that this stance reflects traditional principles of Mexican foreign policy, such as “the self-determination of peoples” and the promotion of conditions for peaceful regional dialogue.
The president argued that Cuba should receive oil and petroleum products for its daily operations without external sanctions, and reiterated that Mexico will do its part to create a respectful framework for cooperation.
