Persian officials accuse the United Arab Emirates of taking part in the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.

On Thursday, during the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting in New Delhi, Iranian diplomat Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed that his nation remains committed to both defending its sovereignty and advancing diplomacy, stressing that no military solution exists to issues concerning Iran.

“Iran responds to respect with respect,” he said, emphasizing that “the Iranian people seek peace, not war, while remaining fully prepared to defend their independence, territorial integrity and national interests.”

The Iranian foreign minister described the economic cooperation group led by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) as a symbol of an emerging international order.

He pointed out that the Global South plays a central role in the world now taking shape and called on countries to pursue stronger cooperation to uphold international law and oppose unilateral pressure and coercion. Araghchi urged his counterparts to “support multilateralism, prevent the politicization of international institutions, and work toward a more balanced and just international order.”

On Thursday, the Iranian diplomat also commented on the position taken by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a country that used the BRICS meeting to focus solely on Iranian actions within its own territory.

In addition to reiterating that Iran is defending itself against external aggression, Araghchi emphasized that the UAE had aligned itself with the United States and Israel during the war.

“I told the Emirati representative that the Zionist entity and the United States cannot provide them with security,” the Iranian diplomat said while updating BRICS members on the situation.

For his part, Kazem Gharibabadi, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, stressed that the United Arab Emirates has become “an aggressor and not just a supporter of aggressors.”

He emphasized that every warplane that took off from the UAE has been documented, with its time, date and flight path accurately recorded.
