The two diplomats held in-depth discussions on the negotiation process aimed at resolving the armed conflict initiated by the United States and Israel in the Middle East.

“The Russian side emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and the fragile truce, as well as preventing any obstruction of political and diplomatic efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement between Iran and the United States,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Lavrov also reiterated Russia’s willingness to offer its mediation services to the parties in the “search for and implementation of mutually acceptable solutions.”

After addressing issues of bilateral cooperation, the parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to steadily strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.

During the day, the Russian minister also met in New Delhi with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.

The visit by the head of Russian diplomacy comes at a time of pressure on international energy markets due to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, which has prompted economic containment measures in India amid rising crude oil prices.

Before beginning his official agenda in New Delhi, Lavrov accused the United States of attempting to block the global trade of its competitors and said Russian energy supplies to India would not be affected.
