Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry forcefully rejected on May 12 a U.S. media report as “misleading and sensationalist”, claiming Iranian military planes arrived to seek refuge from U.S. bombings.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry affirmed this Tuesday that the presence of aircraft from both Iran and the United States strictly facilitates the ongoing diplomatic negotiation process initiated after last April’s ceasefire, underscoring its commitment to regional peace.
This firm stance by Pakistan counters attempts to generate a narrative of conflict and distrust in an already volatile region.

According to an official statement, the planes from both Iran and the United States were exclusively utilized to facilitate the critical negotiation process that commenced following the ceasefire agreement reached in April.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the aircraft were specifically deployed for the transportation of diplomatic and administrative personnel, as well as security teams directly linked to the ongoing talks. Furthermore, they provided essential logistical support for high-level visits, including those of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, highlighting the diplomatic nature of their presence.
The Pakistani Government explicitly clarified that some units of these aircraft remained temporarily within its national territory in anticipation of future rounds of dialogue. Crucially, the Ministry emphasized that these aircraft “bear no relation whatsoever to any military disposition.”
This unequivocal declaration directly refutes the sensationalist claims made by U.S. media outlets, asserting that Pakistan’s actions are in full alignment with its role as a neutral facilitator, solely focused on promoting dialogue and stability rather than engaging in any military-related arrangements. Pakistan maintains that its airspace and facilities are used for legitimate diplomatic purposes, reinforcing its commitment to international law and regional harmony.
Neutral Facilitator Role
This decisive clarification by Pakistan comes in response to a problematic publication by a U.S. media outlet. The report, which cited anonymous sources, erroneously alleged that Pakistan “secretly” permitted the landing of Iranian combat and intelligence planes, including the RC-130 model, to protect them from potential U.S. aerial attacks.
The U.S. network’s report notably lacked any verifiable proof, relying instead on speculation to construct a narrative of conflict and instability within the region. Such unsubstantiated claims risk undermining delicate diplomatic efforts and exacerbating existing tensions, painting a misleading picture of Pakistan’s role and intentions.
In the face of these unfounded allegations, Pakistan firmly reaffirmed its principled stance as a neutral and responsible facilitator in global and regional peace efforts. The Foreign Ministry insisted that his country has maintained full transparency throughout the process, engaging in regular communication with all parties involved.
This widespread conflict has tragically resulted in the deaths of 3,375 Iranians and left thousands more injured.
The Government of Pakistan has also voiced its strong optimism regarding the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States. Pakistan’s perspective emphasizes the human cost of external intervention and unilateral actions, advocating for diplomatic solutions as the only viable path to lasting stability in the Middle East.
