IRGC says operation hit military targets in northern Israel and multiple cities
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday the launch of the 80th wave of attacks under its “True Promise 4” operation, reporting strikes on strategic and military targets in Israel.
According to the IRGC, the latest phase targeted “strategic points” and military centers in northern Israel. The force stated that an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) military command facility in Safed was among the sites hit.
The statement, cited by Tasnim news agency, said the offensive “marks the beginning of a series of previously announced operations.” The IRGC also reported strikes in Tel Aviv, Kiryat Shmona and Bnei Brak, and indicated that the operation is being carried out in support of the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
The announcement further referenced installations linked to the United States in the Gulf, including Ali Al Salem and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, as well as the Shaikh Isa base in Bahrain.
Earlier, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization reported that a projectile struck the area of the Bushehr nuclear power plant following what it described as Israeli actions. The agency stated: “As a result of hostile actions by the US-Zionist enemy, at around 21:08, a projectile hit the territory of the Bushehr nuclear power plant. According to preliminary assessments, no material damage or casualties have been recorded, and no part of the facility was affected.”
In response, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called for restraint regarding attacks near sensitive nuclear sites. The agency said: “According to Iran, the nuclear power plant was not damaged and there were no injuries among personnel, and the status of the plant is normal. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterates his call for maximum restraint to avoid risks to nuclear safety during the conflict.”
Iran has stated that it has been exercising its right to self-defense since February 28, following what it describes as joint actions by the United States and Israel targeting residential areas, civilian infrastructure and natural resources. Iranian authorities report that more than 1,500 civilians have been killed since that date.
The situation remains ongoing as military actions continue across multiple locations.
