The Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity (REDH), together with the participants of the meeting “Sovereignty, Imperialism and Critical Thinking in Our America”, issued a joint statement in which they reject the stalking and the warmongering danger that, they affirm, threaten Latin America and the Caribbean, a region recognized as a historic zone of peace.

The statement, the result of two days of debate and dialogue in Caracas, condemns the sustained aggressions against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and against Cuba, pointing out that these are in addition to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by successive U.S. governments, which they describe as “genocidal.”

To date, the declaration has been signed by personalities and organizations from 54 countries and territories, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Venezuela and Zambia.

The signatories reaffirm their commitment to the defence of sovereignty, the peaceful resolution of conflicts and international solidarity in the face of what they consider to be an escalation of military pressures and threats in the region. The document is disseminated in international spaces to add adhesions and make visible the position of the social and cultural movements that make up the REDH
