During the audience, Castro emphasized that her government is advancing policies focused on defending human rights, with particular attention to the protection of migrants, support for vulnerable families, and the preservation of natural resources. “Social justice and faith must be at the center of every process of transformation,” she said, reaffirming her vision of a country guided by principles of equity and solidarity.

The president also held talks with senior Vatican officials, including Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State and the pontiff’s top diplomatic adviser, and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican’s foreign minister.

This visit is Castro’s third to the Vatican since assuming the presidency in January 2022. She first met with Pope Francis in October of that year and later returned in April 2023 to attend papal funeral rites, reinforcing an institutional relationship built on respect and dialogue.

Closing her official schedule, the president reaffirmed her commitment to continue building a Honduras founded on peace, development, and dignity, guided by universal principles of justice, solidarity, and fraternity.
