It denounces Trump administration measures, oil blockade and migration restrictions.
On Wednesday, the Florida Green Party (GPFL) issued a statement titled “No to War Against Cuba,” condemning the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump that are directly affecting the lives of millions of Cubans.

The GPFL is the state affiliate of the Green Party of the United States, advocating for environmental sustainability, social justice and grassroots democracy.
Based in Seffner, Florida, the organization operates primarily through digital platforms to coordinate activism and candidate support.
The Florida Green Party recalled that arbitrary U.S. sanctions and the oil blockade undermine the sovereignty of the Caribbean nation and violate the human rights of its population.
The full GPFL statement follows:
“The Florida Green Party strongly condemns the decades-long blockade against Cuba, demands the immediate cessation of all threats by the U.S. executive branch against Cuban sovereignty, and categorically rejects the punitive economic measures and blockades implemented on May 1.
The Florida Green Party stands in solidarity with the Cuban people and their right to self-determination, in alignment with the Hands Off Cuba! movement.
We unequivocally condemn the current U.S. blockade against Cuba, including the long list of unilateral, illegal and cruel coercive measures dating back to the 1960 Mallory Memorandum and earlier.
This ongoing economic siege, together with aggressive threats against Cuban sovereignty, constitutes a violation of international law and a form of collective punishment against a sovereign nation, amounting to an illegal economic war.
The energy blockade affects the entire population of approximately 11 million people, disproportionately harming older adults, pregnant women, children and people with chronic illnesses. Furthermore, we strongly oppose threats of military intervention against the Cuban government. We consider the accusation against Raul Castro to be a transparent and hypocritical pretext for war.
Every nation has the right to defend its borders. Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cuban civil aviation authorities have documented a series of incursions by Brothers to the Rescue aircraft into Cuban airspace after disregarding warnings to withdraw.
This contrasts with numerous U.S. terrorist activities, including the bombing of small vessels in the Caribbean and the deaths of more than 180 people without proof of guilt.
In 1976, anti-Cuban terrorists operating from the United States shot down civilian Flight 355, killing the entire Cuban Olympic fencing team. No to war against Cuba! We oppose the migration restrictions and additional sanctions listed in Executive Order 14404, implemented by President Trump on May 1.
These extraterritorial coercive actions are deliberately intended to destabilize the Cuban economy and create artificial hardships during an already fragile humanitarian and energy crisis.
By restricting trade, limiting travel and interfering with shipments of vital resources, this administration continues an imperialist regime-change policy that leaves civilians hungry and violates the United Nations Charter. Current U.S. policy harms the Cuban people in the following ways:
Severe energy and fuel shortages: By imposing steep tariffs on any nation that sends oil to Cuba, the U.S. oil embargo has severely restricted the island’s fuel supply. This has led to debilitating daily blackouts lasting several hours across the country.
Collapse of essential services: Without adequate electricity and fuel, critical infrastructure begins to fail. Water treatment and sewage facilities cannot operate properly, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and water shortages.
Threat to public health: The energy crisis and sanctions severely disrupt the medical sector. Shortages of medicines and medical supplies, including sutures, surgical equipment and antibiotics, have hindered care. Hospitals and clinics suffer major power outages that threaten the operation of critical equipment, vaccine refrigeration and patient transportation.
The Green Party calls for:
- The immediate, complete, and unconditional lifting of the U.S. oil embargo.
- An end to all illegal extraterritorial sanctions against Cuba and nations wishing to trade with it.
- The removal of Cuba from the unjust State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
- The full restoration of diplomatic relations, trade and cultural exchange, based on mutual respect and absolute noninterference.
The Cuban people must be free to shape their own future and resolve their internal affairs without foreign coercion, imperialist aggression or military threats.”
