According to the Secretary General of the FMC, Teresa Amarelle, the Federation emerged in the heat of the Cuban Revolution with two main missions: the fight for gender equality and the defense of the Homeland.
Amarelle expressed this during the central event for the FMCās 65th anniversary, held at the Mausoleum of the II Frank Pais Garcia Eastern Front, where the ashes of the FMCās founder, Vilma Espin, heroine of the mountains and plains, rest.
During her speech, she highlighted the rights won over these decades, particularly universal and free access to education, health, and sports, as well as the active participation of women in the political and social spheres of the Caribbean country.
The Secretary General highlighted the establishment of the National Program for the Advancement of Women as another major accomplishment of the FMC, describing it as āa collective effort involving over four million members, with guaranteed continuity across future generations.ā
During the main event, the provinces of Villa Clara, Ciego de Avila, and Artemisa were honored with the distinction of being outstanding; Matanzas and GuantƔnamo received special recognition; and Santiago de Cuba was awarded the title of National Vanguard for its exemplary performance in organizational operations.
