Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez confirmed the arrival on social media, stating: “Already in #Cuba is an advance group of solidarity collectives and individuals from many parts of the world, united in the #ConvoyNuestraAmérica.”

The convoy transported supplies and equipment at a time when U.S. measures have intensified pressure on the island, affecting key sectors including the national power system. The initiative adds to ongoing efforts by international groups and countries seeking to mitigate the impact of these policies on the Cuban population.

Welcoming the delegation, Díaz-Canel described the effort as an expression of solidarity across borders. “They bring aid against the attempt to suffocate us. Once again, welcome ‘the tenderness of peoples’,” he said.

The first group, composed of delegates from 19 European countries, delivered approximately five tons of supplies, including medicines, solar panels and photovoltaic systems. During their initial activities, members of the convoy visited the Hermanos Amejeiras hospital in Havana, where part of the medical supplies were distributed for use in four hospitals across the country.

The initiative, promoted by the Progressive International, has stated its intention to continue sending humanitarian aid through various channels in response to the economic blockade affecting Cuba. It draws inspiration from the Global Sumud Flotilla, which delivered assistance to Gaza in 2025.

“The solidarity always returns to those who practice it without any interest other than human well-being,” Díaz-Canel added, thanking participants for their support. The convoy is part of broader international efforts under the slogan “Cuba is not alone,” expressing opposition to longstanding U.S. pressure and reinforcing transnational solidarity networks.
