The leader of Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement, Abdel Malik al-Houthi, expressed his full solidarity with Iran this Saturday, praising what he described as Tehran’s “sacred duty” to confront Israel and the United States, and declared that his group is ready for “any escalation.”

Al-Houthi stated in a televised speech that “The Islamic Republic of Iran, with its courageous Revolutionary Guard and its brave army, is fulfilling its sacred duty as a combatant in legitimate defense.”

He asserted that Iran has “the forceful military capability and the necessary means to inflict punishment on the enemies.”

“Our position is to support the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian Muslim people in full solidarity,” he stated. “We are fully prepared for any developments,” he added.

Framing the confrontation as a broader regional struggle, Al-Houthi maintained that Iran is fighting the battle of the entire Islamic nation against American-Israeli Zionist tyranny.

He described the Iranian attacks against American bases in the region as a legitimate right, insisting that they were not directed against the countries where those military bases are located.

During the war between Israel and Hamas, the Houthis have launched missiles and drones towards Israel and have repeatedly attacked commercial ships in key maritime routes, such as the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, claiming that the attacks support the Palestinians in Gaza.

However, the group reached an agreement with the U.S. to stop its attacks on navigation after a bombing offensive driven by U.S. President Donald Trump, and have since taken a back seat.

In fact, this same Saturday morning, the Houthi Supreme Political Council issued a statement of support for Iran, but avoided commenting on whether it would attack the Red Sea again or escalate its military pressure.
