Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez visited the Basilica of Santa Teresa in Caracas on Tuesday to review security arrangements for Holy Week ceremonies, as thousands of faithful prepare for traditional processions including the iconic Nazarene of San Pablo.
Rodríguez met with church authorities to coordinate access controls and the deployment of security forces, emphasizing that additional measures have been put in place to ensure the protection of worshippers and the orderly conduct of religious events.
“We join in prayer this Holy Week, a time of reflection, faith, and spirituality, where the path of Jesus calls us to serve our neighbor and guides us to advance along the road of coexistence, peace, and tranquility in our country,” Rodríguez wrote on X following the visit.
The Basilica of Santa Teresa, a historically significant site in Caracas, has undergone ornamentation and conservation work to preserve its structure ahead of the liturgical celebrations. On Tuesday, Masses were held while organizers monitored hydration stations and pedestrian access points to support pilgrims taking part in processions.
One of the week’s most anticipated events is the procession of the Nazarene of San Pablo, a tradition that draws tens of thousands of participants to the capital each year.
