In order to strengthen the mining sector and dignify its workers, the minister of Ecological Mining Development and Basic Industries Héctor Silva headed an assembly in Las Claritas, state of Bolívar. The meeting sought to listen to national miners to establish a productive model that is efficient, safe and eco-friendly.

In a concrete response to the community’s proposals, the authorities announced the immediate activation of a plan to create a Miner Services Office in the town.
During the assembly, three fundamental axes for the socio-productive development of the area were addressed: maximizing production, responsible mining, and comprehensive security.
Minister Silva and his technical team toured the facilities of the “Las Claritas” Type II Popular Medical Clinic. During the visit, the authorities inspected the conditions of the different medical areas and evaluated the logistical and supply requirements.
During the activity, the holder of the ministerial portfolio, accompanied by the Vice-Minister of Gold, Luis Pérez, and the Vice-Minister of Other Strategic Minerals Non-Oilable, Jesús Mieres, highlighted the effort of the Government to organize the sector through the Mining Brigades, a key initiative for the formalization and growth of activity in the region.
In May, the authorities of the state of Bolívar are moving forward with the creation of Points of Attention to the Miner, following the guidelines of the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez. Minister Héctor Silva coordinated with REDI and ZODI a plan to protect the Orinoco Mining Arc, seeking to strengthen the civic-military-police union to reorganize the territory and stimulate the economy.
Venezuela’s Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) deployed helicopter gunships in Las Brisas and Las Claritas to dislodge leaders of armed gangs operating in areas with mineral reserves, according to the NGO SOS Orinoco and a local source anonymously cited by the agency EFE.
