At the UN, Venezuela thanks the support of the BRICS, NAM and CELAC in the face of U.S. aggression

Venezuela’s Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, thanked this Friday the support expressed by dozens of nations of the world and multilateral organizations towards the South American country, which positioned themselves against the illegal military threat of the United States, which violates the UN charter.

 In the framework of the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), Foreign Minister Gil thanked the overwhelming solidarity of the governments and peoples of the world and especially the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the BRICS group, which have supported Venezuelan sovereignty and Venezuela’s right to peace and development.

“Today the invasion is aimed at Venezuela. He invents lies that no one believes, to justify a millionaire military threat that is atrocious, extravagant and immoral.

We thank world public opinion for denouncing this attempt to take the attempt of war to the Caribbean to promote a regime change that allows them to steal Venezuela’s incalculable oil and gas wealth,” the minister remarked.

Venezuela also ratified its vocation for peace and its right to defend its sovereignty and the peace of the Caribbean and South America.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs denounced that “the criminal aggression to seize natural resources, countless aggressions, destabilization actions including the assassination attempt, the 1,042 sanctions that are criminally applied by the United States” against the Bolivarian nation.

“Venezuela speaks to the world with the truth,” the diplomat said. He also recalled that, since 1999, that country managed to articulate all the historical forces accumulated in a project of struggle, led by Hugo Chávez and made a peaceful and democratic revolution.

 He remarked that the people ratified the project of emancipation of Venezuela, and emphasized that any struggle for a better society must have peace as its destination.

On the other hand, he recalled that “In this early decade of the 21st century we have known the false justifications for attacking Iraq, we have witnessed the invasion of Libya and Afghanistan for more than 20 years,” he said.
