Venezuela’s National Assembly President reaffirmed this Tuesday the zero tolerance against any form of irregularity, illicit act or offense against the Bolivarian Republic, specifically referencing the recent deportation of Alex Saab to the United States.
Venezuela’s National Assembly President Jorge RodrÃguez revealed on May 19 that Alex Saab, recently deported to the United States, maintained a relationship with U.S. agencies since 2019.
This assertion introduces a new, complex dimension to the highly controversial case of Saab, challenging existing narratives and suggesting external complicity in his activities.

Addressing the deportation of the Colombian citizen, RodrÃguez made a powerful revelation, stating that Saab’s current situation is “a matter concerning him and U.S. agencies“, but he promised that the precise nature of the relationship Saab mantains with these U.S. entities will be publicly disclosed.
RodrÃguez reaffirmed that the National Government maintains an unwavering position of “no quarter” against any manifestation of irregularity, illicit conduct or actions perpetrated against the Bolivarian country.
“Who robs, who betrays, who violates the high condition of trust placed by the people of Venezuela or by the Government of Venezuela, must be prosecuted as dictated by the laws of the Republic”, RodrÃguez declared, underscoring a firm commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect national integrity from all forms of malfeasance.
RodrÃguez vehemently also denounced the “gigantic robbery” perpetrated by sectors of the opposition using Venezuela’s funds held abroad. He specifically referenced the dividends from CITGO in New York and the highly publicized Monómeros case, citing these as clear evidence of external complicity in the illicit diversion of the nation’s critical resources.
Combating Misinformation
During the plenary debate, the legislator critically questioned the prevalent “opinion matrices” that, according to him, attempt to instrumentalize the Executive’s own denunciations for the purpose of attacking the very authorities who expose these grievances.
RodrÃguez also directly addressed the allegations widely circulated in digital environments concerning his diplomatic efforts to secure Saab’s release in 2023. In this regard, he specifically recalled that his crucial role as a mediator before the U.S. administration was also instrumental in achieving, during 2025, the successful repatriation of the young girl Maikelys Espinoza and the rescue of 252 Venezuelan migrants who had been detained in El Salvador.
The Assembly President unequivocally reaffirmed that neither Alex Saab nor the 257 Venezuelan migrants rescued possess any form of immunity or impunity. In this sense, he stressed that if they committed crimes, stole money or planned other illicit activities, they “must face the law and be prosecuted.”
These significant humanitarian achievements, he denounced, are frequently and conspicuously omitted from various social media platforms and mainstream digital narratives, presenting an incomplete and often biased picture of his diplomatic endeavors.
RodrÃguez asserted that any public official, including mayors affiliated with the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV, in Spanish), who is found to be involved in economic crimes or drug trafficking, will face the full force of the law, including deprivation of liberty. This declaration underscores a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and illicit activities, signaling a firm stance against impunity, even within the ranks of the governing party itself. The message was clear: the fight against corruption prioritizes national integrity and the rule of law.
By directly addressing the Alex Saab deportation, countering misleading narratives and highlighting his diplomatic achievements, he reinforced the commitment to protect Venezuela’s sovereignty and uphold its legal framework.
