On Wednesday, July 1, Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez declared seven days of national mourning in memory of the victims of the June 24 earthquakes.

“Venezuela’s soul has been torn apart by the human losses caused by the devastating earthquakes. Today, we share the grief of the families who have lost their loved ones, and we offer our prayers for the injured, the missing and the affected communities.
In tribute to the memory of the victims, I have decided to declare seven days of national mourning, beginning at 6 p.m. today.
In these moments of profound sorrow, we embrace those who are suffering from this tragedy and reaffirm our commitment to stand by them and protect them,” Rodríguez said.
Death Toll and Disaster Response Figures as of June 30
On Tuesday, Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez provided an update on figures related to the natural disaster and the post-earthquake response. The official figures are as follows:
— 6,461 people rescued.
— 26,127 Venezuelan personnel deployed to affected areas.
— 15,467 volunteers engaged in logistics and rescue operations.
— 28,380 people receiving care in hospitals or staying in camps as affected individuals.
— 80,870 families assisted.
— More than 13,500 people left the disaster zone on their own or with assistance from family members.
— 689 aftershocks.
— 855 buildings damaged, including 189 completely destroyed and 666 with severe or partial damage.
— 1,943 people killed.
— 10,571 people injured.
— 15,866 people affected.
— 14 shelters established in La Guaira state and 55 shelters in Caracas, Miranda and other states.
— 51 international delegations.
— 3,660 international rescue workers.
— 148 rescue dogs.
— 49 support vehicles.
— 707,000 tons of international humanitarian aid.
