During the solemn ceremony, Rodríguez laid a floral wreath to honor the global symbol of pacifist struggle and civil disobedience. This symbolic act serves to strengthen the deep diplomatic relations established between the South American nation and the Asian giant, reinforcing a shared vision of sovereignty and mutual respect.
Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gandhi became the key figure in India’s independence from the British Empire through his principles of non-violent resistance. His passing on January 30, 1948, left an enduring legacy of social justice that continues to inspire modern peace diplomacy.
Venezuelan authorities emphasized that honoring his memory consolidates a bilateral agenda built on peaceful coexistence, international law, and shared economic development for both peoples.
Text reads: “We pay tribute to the immortal legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, a symbol of India’s peaceful struggle for independence. His thought transcends and with him today we ratify: “There is no path to peace; peace is the path.”
Deepening Energy Ties
Beyond the cultural and historical tributes, the official state visit included crucial high-level diplomatic and economic meetings. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez held a strategic working session with India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, focused on expanding strategic cooperation in the hydrocarbon sector, exploring new joint investment frameworks and advancing technological exchanges. These new financial and technical structures aim to maximize production capabilities and revitalize energy partnerships, benefiting both nations’ state-owned enterprises in an increasingly multipolar global landscape.
