Ukrainian Drone Swarm Knocked Down by Russian Defenses Overnight; One Civilian Injured

Russian air defenses shot down 149 Ukrainian drones overnight as explosions were reported at two oil refineries in the country, official sources said on Saturday.

“Between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., air defense systems intercepted 149 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles,” stated a note published on the Russian Ministry of Defense’s Telegram channel.
The attacks were concentrated in the Rostov region, with 40 drones shot down; Saratov, 27; Bryansk, 18; Samara, 15; and the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, 12. Smaller numbers of drones were also intercepted over Volgograd (eight), Belgorod (four), Voronezh (two), Kaluga (two), and one each in Kursk, Smolensk, and Nizhny Novgorod. Meanwhile, 15 drones were downed over the Black Sea and three over the Sea of Azov.
Saratov Governor Roman Busargin also reported damage to a residential building, with one woman injured.
“One person was injured as a result of the incident. The woman was promptly hospitalized and received the necessary assistance. She is currently under medical supervision in the hospital,” he posted on Telegram.
Yesterday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported shooting down 43 Ukrainian drones.
