The suspect fired from nearby government building before killing himself.
On Wednesday, Tricia McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), confirmed that at least two people were killed and several others wounded in a shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Dallas, Texas.

The suspect, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, fired into the ICE facility from a nearby government building. The dead are “possibly” migrants who were being held in the building, McLaughlin said, adding that no ICE officers or local police were among the fatalities.
The DHS spokeswoman also said the incident appeared to have been caused by a sniper but added that the investigation is still ongoing.
Dallas police said they received a call at 6:40 a.m. local time requesting “backup” for an officer. The victims have not yet been identified.
Although authorities said the motive behind the attack remains unknown, several officials in President Donald Trump’s administration immediately linked the shooting to violence and threats against law enforcement. “The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly against ICE, must stop,” Vice President J.D. Vance said on his X account.
This is the third such incident this year in Texas. In July, authorities charged 10 people in a shooting outside a migrant detention center in Alvarado that wounded a police officer. The Justice Department called it an “organized attack.”
That same month, federal agents killed a man who opened fire on a Border Patrol building in McAllen, triggering a crossfire that left at least one person wounded.
