Brazilian activist Thiago Ávila, who traveled to Cuba aboard the humanitarian vessel Granma 2.0 in solidarity with the people of the island, has been released and is on his way to Brazil after being interrogated for six hours at Tocumen Airport in Panama.
“Thank you so much for all the solidarity! They think they can scare us, but the only thing they achieve is strengthening our resolve and our sense of urgency to defeat U.S. imperialism, Israeli Zionism, and their project of domination that wreaks havoc in so many countries,” Ávila declared.
The Brazilian activist, a member of the international Nuestra América convoy, stated: “We will not stop until we build a society free from exploitation, free from oppression, and free from the destruction of nature.”
This week, the activist had underscored on his social media that “from Gaza to Havana, the struggle is one: against imperialism and Zionism, and for the dignity of the free peoples of the world.”
“We are living the greatest historical battle of our generation, and it is our duty to confront the structures of oppression wherever they manifest themselves,” he said.
