On Monday, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that 24 people were arrested and six stabbings were reported following Arsenal’s champions parade in north London.

More than 500 officers, alongside specialist search and drone teams, were deployed for Sunday’s event, which drew hundreds of thousands of supporters, according to the police.

The parade was held to celebrate Arsenal men’s team’s first English Premier League title in 22 years. The club’s women’s team also joined the celebrations following its FIFA Champions Cup triumph this season.

Police said the vast majority of supporters celebrated safely and responsibly. However, officers dealt with several incidents as the day progressed.

The arrests included suspected assaults on police officers, sexual assaults, grievous bodily harm, public order offenses and drug-related offenses. Four police vans were also damaged in Islington, with investigations ongoing.

Later in the evening, after most of the crowds had dispersed, officers responded to six stabbings within the parade area. Most of those injured were not seriously hurt, police said. A man in his 20s, who was initially taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, is now in a stable condition.

A Section 60 order, which gives officers additional stop-and-search powers, was authorized overnight in local area to help prevent further offenses. Commander Stuart Bell, who led the police operation, said investigations into the incidents were continuing.
