On Tuesday, NGO Emergency Lawyers reported that at least ten people were killed in an attack attributed to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group against a court in Um Rawaba, a town in North Kordofan State.

The NGO strongly condemned the attack, stating that targeting judicial and civilian facilities constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law, endangering both judicial personnel and citizens.

It demanded an immediate end to attacks against civilian and judicial infrastructure, an independent and transparent investigation, and guarantees for the protection of judicial sector workers, litigants, and institutional buildings.

According to preliminary reports, the attack was carried out with a drone and left dozens wounded. However, the RSF has not commented on the incident.

North Kordofan has become a strategic front in the war, connecting the capital, Khartoum, and the center of the country with the Darfur region. Its capital, Al Obeid, is a logistical and humanitarian hub under siege by paramilitary groups.

The war in Sudan began in April 2023 between the army and the RSF. Since then, tens of thousands of people have died, and around 14 million have been displaced, according to United Nations data.

This conflict has turned Sudan into the scene of the world’s “largest displacement crisis,” with a devastating impact on the population and civilian institutions.
