Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said that the U.S. government is pressuring and deceiving other countries to urge them to change their positions on the U.S. economic blockade against the island.

“They fear what will happen: the rejection of the overwhelming majority of the international community to their genocidal policy and economic asphyxiation against Cuba,” he said on the social network X in reference to the upcoming vote at the United Nations on the Cuban proposal for a resolution against the U.S. blockade.
Thus, the head of state reacted to the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, who on Wednesday denounced to the local and foreign press the White House’s disinformation campaign to distort the Cuban reality.
During his appearance, Rodríguez accused the White House of lacking arguments to modify the opposition of the majority of states to the blockade sustained for more than six decades.
The vote on Cuba’s appeal to the United Nations against the U.S. blockade is scheduled for the 28th and 29th of this month.
