Post featuring stereotypes targets Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer.
On Tuesday, the White House mocked Democratic leaders in Congress with an AI-generated image in which Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer appear wearing large jarano hats celebrating Cinco de Mayo, alongside a sign that reads “I love illegal immigrants.”

The two lawmakers appear seated in front of a border crossing between the United States and Mexico, toasting with margaritas and accompanied by stereotypical elements of Mexican culture, such as a colorful tablecloth, tortilla chips with salsa and a cactus.
“Happy Cinco de Mayo to all who celebrate,” the White House added in a message on X. This mockery coincides with a day traditionally celebrating Mexican culture and heritage.
On May 5 in Mexico, the Battle of Puebla (1862) is commemorated, when the Mexican army, led by Gen. Ignacio Zaragoza, defeated French troops that were better equipped and greater in number.
It is a date of national pride that symbolizes resistance and dignity, celebrated mainly in Puebla with parades and festivals, unlike in the United States, where it is a major celebration of Mexican culture.
It is not the first time the Trump administration has used AI-manipulated content to attack its rivals and employed stereotypes about Mexico considered offensive.
In September 2025, it had already mocked Jeffries with a video in which he appeared with a mustache and a jarano hat during a media appearance on a visit to the White House.
Days later, the White House published another video featuring an AI-generated voice imitating Schumer making derogatory remarks about immigrants, amid disputes over the federal government shutdown.
