FM Jaentsche highlighted the role of the Communist Party in the historic achievement of lifting millions of people out of poverty.
On Thursday, Nicaraguan Foreing Affairs Minister Valdrack Jaentschke said that China has become a peaceful power, demonstrating the goodwill that everyone can escape poverty.
“China’s example is what we believe we can achieve: lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty with the clear leadership of the Communist Party and the Chinese government. It is an indisputable example in the world,” he said.
Jaentschke led an official ceremony at the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry to bid farewell to China’s ambassador to Nicaragua Chen Xi, who concluded his mission in the Central American country.
During 2024, China granted Nicaragua approximately US$919.72 million in loans for energy and infrastructure projects, consolidating its position as its largest bilateral creditor.
The text reads, “Nicaraguan National Assembly President Gustavo Porras received a visit from Chinese Ambassador Chen Xi, who is in the final phase of his diplomatic mission, reaffirming the ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations.”
Minister Jaentschke affirmed that the relationship with China is based on solidarity, cooperation, trade, and investment, seeking to strengthen national development and participation in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Jaentschke reiterated Nicaragua’s stance on non-interference and territorial unity, supporting the “one China” principle, which recognizes Beijing as the sole legitimate government of the Asian country.
Nicaragua reestablished diplomatic relations with China in December 2021, after breaking ties with Taiwan and allowing new economic agreements, donations, and projects financed by Chinese companies in energy, housing, and infrastructure.
