Since the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran began on February 28, there have also been 2 attacks on Israeli health centers, WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also indicated.
He stressed that the war is having a serious impact on the health of the entire region, where the deaths of more than 1,400 civilians have been reported in Iran, 900 in Lebanon, and 20 in Israel.
He noted that the large number of displaced people (at least 3.2 million in Iran and one million in Lebanon) also poses a serious health concern, as many of those who have fled their homes due to the conflict “are living in overcrowded shelters, which can rapidly increase health risks.”
He also highlighted that his organization has allocated two million dollars from its emergency fund to support the response in Lebanon, Iran, and Syria.
“We are doing everything we can to save lives and prevent suffering, but, as always, the best medicine is peace,” Tedros stated.
Damage to Iranian Social Infrastructure
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi, in an interview with an international network, noted that 53 hospitals and numerous schools have been attacked, along with bank branches, residential buildings, and political, scientific, and academic figures, in addition to thousands of civilians.
He also criticized what he called the international community’s silence in the face of these attacks. “I am truly surprised that the world isn’t talking about the attack on Iranian residential areas; but I can state with certainty that we do not attack civilian targets in neighboring countries,” Araqchi asserted.
He also insisted that Iran has not escalated the war, but rather responds proportionally to aggression. “We had already warned our friends in the region about this matter. When the United States attacks us, our missiles and drones cannot reach their territory; therefore, we are forced to respond by attacking their military bases and assets in the region,” he explained.
Funeral and Iranian Military Response
The funeral of the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, is being held this Wednesday in Tehran with massive participation from the Iranian people. Iran attributes the attack to the Zionist regime and the US government, calling it an act of terrorism.
In retaliation, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched the 61st wave of “Operation Truthful Promise 4,” which struck more than 100 Israeli military and security targets in Tel Aviv and other occupied territories.
Military sources reported that the offensive was carried out using Khorramshahr-4, Qadr, Emad, and Kheybarshkan missiles, considered technologically advanced.
Initial reports indicate severe infrastructure damage, power outages, and more than 230 dead and wounded. Meanwhile, the Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed the deaths of two people in Ramat Gan, a district of Tel Aviv, following the impact of Iranian missiles, which highlight the ineffectiveness of Israeli air defenses.
