Iran says its latest missile operation targeted an Israeli air base as ceasefire violations and cross-border attacks fuel regional instability.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched ballistic missiles against Israel, including a strike targeting the Ramat David Air Base, in what it described as a response to recent Israeli military actions in Lebanon.

In a statement published by Tasnim, the IRGC said the operation was carried out following what it called Israel’s extensive offensive in southern Lebanon. The group accused Israel of causing deaths and displacement in Nabatieh, Tyre and Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahiyeh, and claimed that military operations against Lebanon had originated from the Ramat David base.

The IRGC stated that its acceptance of a ceasefire on April 8 had been contingent on a halt to hostilities “on all fronts.” It argued, however, that Israel and the United States failed to uphold those commitments and continued military actions in Lebanon.

The statement described the missile attack as a “warning” and accused Israel and the United States of repeatedly violating the truce through actions targeting Iranian vessels and coastal areas in the Indian Ocean, the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC warned that any further attacks would trigger a broader response against “all U.S.-Israeli targets in the region.”

Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff also accused Israel of escalating attacks against Lebanon with U.S. support and international silence, alleging the use of prohibited weapons, including phosphorus bombs.

Israel and Lebanon reached a ceasefire agreement on April 16 following negotiations in Washington. Despite the deal, Israeli forces continued conducting airstrikes in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah maintained military operations against Israeli forces.

The two sides later agreed during a meeting on Wednesday to implement the ceasefire framework. However, Israel carried out airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday without prior warning, only days after the agreement took effect. Casualties were reported following the attack.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, condemned the strike in remarks posted on X.

“We will deliver a decisive and painful response to the Zionist regime’s attack on Dahiyeh. These rabid dogs must be disciplined and put back in their place. Look at the sky over the occupied lands tonight.” he wrote.

Following Iran’s retaliatory missile attack, U.S. President Donald Trump called on Tehran to return to diplomatic talks.

“What I would suggest to Iran: You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough. Get back to the table and make a deal,” Trump said in comments to Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst.

Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with Israel’s strike on Beirut, saying Israeli authorities had not coordinated the operation with Washington. He argued that continued missile launches by Iran were undermining diplomatic efforts and urged Tehran to halt retaliatory actions and resume negotiations.

The U.S. president further warned that Iran should pursue an agreement in order to avoid a scenario in which Washington would once again resort to military intervention.

Iranian authorities reported damage to part of the Karoon Petrochemical Company in Mahshahr, Khuzestan Province, following what they described as an Israeli airstrike.

According to the Fars news agency, the deputy governor of Khuzestan for security affairs said the facility had been targeted and that a section of the complex was hit.

Officials said assessments were continuing to determine the number of possible casualties and the full extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security cabinet meeting involving a limited group of key ministers, according to an Israeli official quoted by The Times of Israel.
