El Salvador’s Ministry of Education announced that in-person classes and academic activities will resume nationwide on Friday, June 12, following an assessment of weather and safety conditions.


El Salvador’s Ministry of Education announced on Thursday evening that in-person classes and academic activities will resume nationwide on Friday, June 12.

The measure applies to universities, private schools and public educational institutions throughout the country.

According to the ministry, the decision covers all educational levels and modalities, including Early Childhood Education, Preschool Education, Basic Education, Secondary Education, Technical Secondary Education, Alternative Education Programs and Higher Education.

“The return to in-person activities follows an evaluation of weather and safety conditions, prioritizing the well-being of the educational community and seeking to ensure the continuity of the learning process,” the ministry said in a statement.

Authorities also urged students, teachers, parents and administrative staff to follow guidance issued by government institutions and take preventive precautions during their daily commutes.

The Ministry of Education reiterated “its commitment to protecting the educational community and calls on the public to remain informed exclusively through the official channels of the Government of El Salvador.”
