Diosdado Cabello announced that Venezuela’s justice system has released 896 detainees under President Maduro’s directive, highlighting political mobilization and an atmosphere of peace in the country.

Diosdado Cabello, Secretary-General United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV, in Spanish), announced Monday, February 9, that 896 citizens have been released by the nation’s justice system.

The process of reviewing cases and the subsequent release of detainees is the result of an efficient management of the Venezuelan justice system, following the directive of President Nicolas Maduro to review cases of incarcerated individuals.

“Since October, President Maduro requested the review of cases of people who had committed crimes. On December 24, while others were celebrating, the justice system was working to bring joy to some homes”, Cabello stated during the weekly press conference of the PSUV National Directorate.

In this sense, Cabello reported that the initial figure of 897 was adjusted because one of the beneficiaries had committed the crime again. He indicated that the Public Prosecutor’s Office used “a functioning justice system”, which only responded to the violation of precautionary measures.

Cabello also referenced the Amnesty Law currently under discussion in the National Assembly, noting that to benefit from any law, it is imperative to “abide by the law.” He emphasized that parliamentary spaces are available for discussion with sectors committed to abandoning violence and engaging in the democratic electoral process, which ratifies an atmosphere of peace in the country.

Diosdado Cabello emphatically stated that Venezuela will continue to fight until President Maduro and the First Combatant Cilia Flores are back in their homeland, asserting with determination that “sooner rather than later, we will have them here with their people.”

In this sense, he emphasized the absolute backing of the party and revolutionary forces, affirming that none of the accusations against them have any basis. “From here, our strength, our affection, our respect, always,” the PSUV leader expressed.

Following the kidnapping of President Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores by the United States on last January 3, Cabello emphasized that acting President Delcy Rodriguez has continued these guidelines.

Diosdado Cabello announced a significant march for February 12 to observe Youth Day. “He declared, ‘”This is Youth Week, and we anticipate a record-setting march on the 12th. We need a huge gathering to remember our people’s heroic actions and our identity”, he said.

Cabello also noted that a concert in Aragua state would conclude the massive event. He described it as “‘a grand concert for peace, as peace is fundamental to our economic recovery and progress throughout the nation.”
