South Korea defeated Argentina and now awaits its quarterfinal opponent.
On Wednesday, Brazil’s national team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women’s U-20 World Cup in Poland by defeating the United States on penalties after the teams drew 1-1 through 90 minutes and extra time.

Brazil and the United States decided the quarterfinal berth at Arena Katowice in a nine-kick penalty shootout in which the Canarinha prevailed 5-4, with the only miss coming on the first kick from U.S. player Emeri Adames.
Earlier, during the 90 minutes, Sofia Couto put Brazil ahead in the 59th minute, and four minutes later, Ainsley McCammon scored the equalizer for the U.S. team.
Brazil’s quarterfinal opponent on Saturday will be the winner of this afternoon’s match between Spain and Portugal.

South Korea Eliminates Argentina
On Wednesday, South Korea defeated Argentina in the round of 16 of the Women’s U-20 World Cup in Poland and now awaits its quarterfinal opponent, which will come from this afternoon’s match between Italy and China.
A lone goal by Beom Ye-Joo in the 33rd minute in Sosnowiec gave the South Korean team, which finished third in 2010, the victory and a place in the quarterfinals. The match was officiated by Spanish referee Marta Huerta de Aza.
The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup has been taking place since 2002, when the inaugural tournament was held in Canada as an under-19 event before changing to the under-20 format in 2006.
The competition is held every two years in even-numbered years. The 2026 tournament is taking place in Poland from September 5 to September 27, 2026.
