At a press conference in New York, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said, “These declarations are rejected and unacceptable,” stressing that “an attack against any Iraqi is an attack against all of Iraq.” He reaffirmed that Baghdad firmly opposes any Israeli aggression.

The minister’s comments coincided with a rare protest at the UN General Assembly, where a majority of delegates from around the world walked out as Netanyahu began his speech.

On the same day, Iraq’s Resistance announced it had carried out a drone strike on a strategic Israeli site at the port of Eilat, in the southern part of the occupied Palestinian territories. Netanyahu responded with direct threats against resistance groups in Iraq.

In turn, Hussein Ali Nur al-Musawi, spokesperson for the Islamic Resistance Movement of Iraq (Hezbollah al-Nujaba), described Netanyahu’s remarks as a “hollow threat” to Iraqi resistance, as well as a threat to “world peace” and “a blatant violation of all international norms.”

“The statements of Netanyahu, who is described as the world’s biggest terrorist, are nothing but an attempt to escape the bitter reality faced by him, his illegitimate cabinet, and the army of that regime,” al-Musawi added, recalling that Israeli forces had previously faced Iraqi attacks.
