Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez announced a cabinet reshuffle on Sunday, appointing engineer Francisco Garcés as Minister of People’s Power for Transport and naming Jacqueline Faría to head the Great Mission Venezuela Renace, as part of measures aimed at improving public services and coordinating assistance for communities affected by the recent earthquakes.

In a message published on her Telegram channel, the acting president said Garcés, a structural engineering specialist and Doctor of Civil Engineering, “assumes this responsibility with the purpose of advancing and strengthening this strategic sector in the service of our people.”

Garcés takes over the Transport Ministry with the stated objective of improving road infrastructure and mobility systems nationwide. Following the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, he has also led the Presidential Commission for the Assessment of Infrastructure Habitability, established by the Executive to inspect infrastructure in the affected areas.

As part of the same cabinet changes, Acting President Delcy Rodríguez appointed Jacqueline Faría, who previously headed the Transport Ministry, as president of the Great Mission Venezuela Renace.

Announcing the appointment, the acting president said Faría “will have the responsibility of articulating and leading housing and infrastructure recovery efforts, coordinating actions that, following technical verification, provide timely responses to families affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela.”

According to the government, the new mission will centralize and coordinate national efforts to restore housing and critical infrastructure across the country. It will report directly to the Presidency of the Republic and will incorporate the Barrio Nuevo Barrio Tricolor, Juntos Todo es Posible and Venezuela Bella missions.

The government said the appointments are part of a broader cabinet renewal intended to strengthen institutional capacity and provide timely responses to people affected by the recent earthquakes.
