In his oath-taking remarks, Lam pledged absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic.
“He pledged to lead the revolutionary cause through all challenges and hardships toward its goals, fulfilling the wishes of President Ho Chi Minh and the aspirations of the Vietnamese nation,” the presidency web site reads.
According to the leader, his top priority in holding both the position of General Secretary and State President is to ensure a peaceful, stable environment. From there, he wants to drive rapid but sustainable development, vastly improve people’s quality of life to let them fully enjoy the fruits of progress, and have Vietnam contribute more to peace, stability, and development across the region and the world.
