Urged that the Citizen Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Policy and other members of the Committee on Foreign Policy meet immediately to adopt a resolution urging the Venezuelan government “to immediately break off all diplomatic relations, all commercial relations and all consular relations. That all the representatives of the delegation of the Government of Spain and all consulates and consuls leave this place, and we bring our people from there”.
Rodríguez further proposed that the resolution include the cessation of commercial flights between Madrid and Caracas by Spanish airlines, as well as all commercial activities of Spanish companies.
“This is the most brutal assault on Venezuela by Spain since we fought for our independence. What the Congress of Deputies has done today is a declaration of war against Venezuela and the legitimately constituted government”, he denounced.
In that sense, Rodriguez rejected the interference of the Congress of Deputies of the Iberian country, and said that “it is unacceptable. We’re not gonna keep that one”.
“It is an outrage, a barbarity, an indecency, and it is contrary to international law. Would they have welcomed it if Venezuela had said that it approved the consultation to make Catalonia and the Basque Country independent? Neither the Venezuelan government nor the state interferes in other countries’ affairs”, he said.
He also indicated that “Nicolás Maduro has a name and word, and therefore, if necessary, we will show Venezuela and the world what President Nicolás Maduro called on Monday state secrets, so that the world can see who has a word and who is indecent”.
On this day, the Congress of Deputies approved by majority the non-legislative proposal of the Popular Party that seeks to urge the Spanish government to recognize Edmundo González as the winner of the presidential elections of last July 28 in Venezuela.
On the subject, during the ordinary session of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Member of Parliament Tania Díaz, described «What the Spanish MEPs did in order to wash the face of the Venezuelan extreme right and the disappointment they had suffered with the shameful flight of Edmundo González Urrutia is shameful and unprecedented, that after having unleashed fascism against the Venezuelan people, he will take refuge in Spain».
Díaz indicated that the bill approved by Congress is a proposal of no law, which is nothing more than a staging. It is not binding, has no characteristics of law or consequences, only authorizes the Congress to request the Spanish government to recognize Edmundo González as president of Venezuela».
