Launched April 19, the pilgrimage seeks to demonstrate Venezuelan faith and political resilience through massive caravans and marches across the South American country.

“The Great Pilgrimage has transformed into a powerful ‘human river’ traveling across Venezuela, from the Lake Maracaibo bridge to the Andean regions, the east, the beaches and the plains, with a unified message: the definitive end of external aggressions and the demand for respect for national sovereignty,” the newspaper El Universal commented.

“The national pilgrimage is not only a political demand but also a reaffirmation of the national destiny centered on peace and economic growth without tutelage,” it added.

Previously, in a message that emphasized unity above political differences, Rodriguez called on all Venezuelan sectors to join the civic initiative, stressing that the people are the true “hero of this new stage of economic rebirth, which no imperial decree will be able to stop.”

The pilgrimage is expected to take place in all regions of the country, including Guayana Esequiba, a territory that symbolizes the Venezuelan claim to sovereignty.

The closing of this collective act of resistance is scheduled to serve as a prelude to May 1, International Workers’ Day, aiming to demonstrate that the full recovery of Venezuelan sovereignty will allow for the restoration of national income.

“Accompanied by the people of Lara, we arrived at the Divina Pastora Shrine after a beautiful walk as an act of faith, encounter, and deep love for our country. In this pilgrimage, we raise a single prayer so that every Venezuelan becomes a builder of peace and in favor of a Venezuela free of sanctions,” Rodriguez said.

The mobilization has generated a massive response in the states visited. In Lara, the Venezuelan acting president was received by regional authorities and grassroots movements. In Amazonas, citizens responded enthusiastically to the call against U.S. arbitrary sanctions. In Guayana Esequiba, Venezuelans called for a homeland free of sanctions.

The National Pilgrimage is a symbolic act in the search for reconciliation proposed by Acting President Rodriguez, who urged citizens to “walk together as one country.”

“This pilgrimage is to reunite, heal wounds and walk as one country. Venezuela is much greater than our differences. Today, more than ever, we must unite,” she stressed.
