Astrid Montero and Nathaly Griman lead Venezuela’s six-medal haul at the Central American and Caribbean Games.


Venezuela won two gold medals in women’s freestyle wrestling at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, with Astrid Montero and Nathaly Griman defeating Mexican opponents in their respective finals to headline a six-medal performance.

Montero claimed the women’s 62-kilogram title after defeating Mexico’s Melanie Jiménez in the championship bout. Cuba’s María Santana and Colombia’s Katherine Rentería shared the bronze medals in the division.

Griman secured Venezuela’s second gold by defeating Mexico’s Ámbar Garnica in the women’s 68-kilogram final. Puerto Rico’s Ruth Jiménez and Colombia’s Nicol Parrado took bronze.

Nohalis Loco captured bronze in the 50-kilogram division, and Yohelyn Valera added another bronze in the 57-kilogram class, bringing Venezuela’s total to six medals in women’s freestyle wrestling at the regional competition.
