Venezuela Thanks NGOs Supporting Earthquake Response

Government says 18 humanitarian organizations are assisting relief efforts coordinated through the UN after the June 24 earthquakes.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez met with representatives of international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing humanitarian assistance in Venezuela following the two powerful earthquakes that struck the country on June 24, expressing the gratitude of the Venezuelan government and people for their emergency response.

The meeting highlighted cooperation between Venezuela and the international community, recognizing the immediate support provided, particularly in Caracas and La Guaira. Representatives of 18 humanitarian organizations involved in the emergency response attended the event.
According to the government, international assistance was mobilized immediately under the coordination of the United Nations (UN), bringing together doctors, paramedics, engineers, logistics specialists and volunteers to support relief operations.

Government officials said humanitarian operations have focused on rescuing survivors, providing primary healthcare and medical triage, distributing drinking water and non-perishable food, establishing temporary camps, carrying out search-and-rescue and damage assessment operations, and offering spiritual support to affected families.
Authorities also said the UN system will serve as the channel for coordinating operational guidelines and technical requirements directly with Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry. According to the government, this framework is intended to avoid overlapping operations, improve coordination in affected areas and ensure a continuous flow of information to maximize available resources.
Government emergency update
According to the official government report released on July 4, authorities continue providing comprehensive assistance to 86,794 families affected by the earthquakes. Officials said the seismic event has generated 942 aftershocks since June 24.
The government reported 2,954 fatalities and 16,592 injured people. Public health services have provided medical care to 22,445 patients. Authorities said 80 temporary camps have been established to shelter 16,309 people whose homes were destroyed.
The official assessment also recorded damage to 856 buildings, including 190 structures that collapsed. Humanitarian operations have distributed 9,486 metric tons of food and 472,914 liters of drinking water to communities affected by the disaster.
According to the government, emergency operations remain active with the deployment of 29,567 national personnel, supported by 3,281 international rescuers and 26,984 civilian volunteers. Authorities said rescue teams have pulled 6,462 people alive from the rubble.
