“I present it, after having fulfilled with gallantry and honor this office in the midst of historical circumstances of exceptional challenge for the present and future of our Homeland, where we played the constitutional role of preserving peace and protecting the Human Rights of our people in a period of unimaginable aggression for the Venezuelan nation”, detailed Saab on his letter.

Jorge Rodriguez, President of the National Assembly, praised Saab as a lifelong Human Rights expert and highlighted his extensive background as lawyer and specialist in Criminal and Procedural Law.

The National Assembly President underscored Tarek William Saab’s extensive trajectory, which includes serving as Governor of Anzoategui state, President of the Republican Moral Council, and as a constituent assembly member, deputy to the National Assembly and President of the Commission for Justice, Peace, and Public Tranquility of Venezuela.

“A man who has also been an expert in human rights all his life”, he affirmed.

“He has held positions of singular importance in the development of the State and the Bolivarian Government”, emphasized Rodriguez, referring to Saab’s performance as Attorney General of the Republic, a responsibility now assumed temporarily by Larry Devoe Marquez, immediately assuming the direction of the Public Ministry.

Text reads: “Tarek William Saab highlighted the attention of 5,092,407 people during his office.”

Larry Devoe Marquez has a distinguished career in public administration and the defense of fundamental rights. Until this recent appointment, he served as Executive Secretary of the National Council for Human Rights, a position from which he promoted various citizen protection initiatives.

In this sense, his designation aims to give continuity to the ongoing judicial processes and strengthen the country’s institutions.

The Venezuelan National Assembly also appointed the Preliminary Committee in charge of defining the timeline for renewing the authorities of the Citizen Power.

The immediate mission of the Preliminary Committee will be to advance the formation of the Postulations Committee, which will be responsible for receiving, evaluating and selecting the profiles of citizens who aspire to head the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ombudsman’s Office.
