In an act full of political and military symbolism, the sectoral vice president of Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, led the swearing-in of the Peasant Brigade of La Peñita, in the Carayaca parish of La Guaira state, as part of the national deployment of the Bolivarian Militia.
This structure, made up of farm workers, seeks to consolidate the comprehensive defense of Venezuelan territory against any external threat. During the ceremony, Cabello reaffirmed the sacred nature of the homeland: “These mountains are sacred spaces; whoever dares to set foot in these sacred spaces will find a People, a People willing to defend the Homeland.”
The sectoral Vice President stressed that the Venezuelan people, although humble, “today are very aware of the importance of preparation, training and forging to do what they have to do in any circumstance.”
In this sense, he called on the governors of all the states of the country to constitute the peasant militias without delay, in compliance with the order given by President Nicolás Maduro. Cabello stressed: “The peasant militias are with a symbol in their hand (a machete), the symbol of the workers, of the peasants.
They know perfectly well what to do with that instrument when they are working the fields, but they also know that at the time of the little girl it is an instrument to defend our Homeland.”
In addition to their defensive function, Cabello highlighted the productive role of the country’s peasants, who “plant, harvest and produce food to promote and defend the country.”
The swearing-in in La Guaira reinforces the Venezuelan government’s message that the defense of the homeland is not only institutional, but also deeply communal and territorial.
