Venezuela’s government and ex-deputies of the 2015 National Assembly concluded the second round of dialogue on Friday, reaching several key agreements aimed at enhancing right to information and strengthening the judicial system.
The second cycle of talks between the Venezuelan government and ex-deputies of the 2015 National Assembly concluded this Friday in Caracas with significant agreements of technical tables that worked around plural thought and the right to information, and the strengthening of democracy and the judiciary.

The delegations agreed to support the government’s announcement to continue and expand the lifting of administrative measures imposed on news portals and electronic media.
The government aims to promote responsible communication practices that foster democratic coexistence, peace, and national unity.
A call was made to all the actors of the communication system, both public and private, to assume a space of responsibility focused on democratic coexistence, peace and national union. As part of this agenda, it was envisaged to start discussions on the use of national radio spectrum, which will include the revision of relevant legal instruments.
Judicial Transformation
A key agreement was the creation of a Credentials Review Council for candidates to the Supreme Court of Justice. This council, composed by the lawyers Belén Ramírez Landaeta, Rogelio Pérez Perdomo, Bernardo Pulido Márquez, Silio Sánchez, Deyanira Nieves, Federico Fuenmayor and Maria Bernadoni Govea, will oversee the credentials and requirements of those aspiring to the body.
Additionally, the parties agreed to advance the designation of the Preliminary Commission of the Judicial Appointments Committee and to publish the procedural timetable.
Text reads: “The second round of dialogue table discussions with the 2015 National Assembly delegation has been completed. We share the following communiqué signed by both heads of delegation.”
The dialogue between the government and the opposition reflects a broader effort to address longstanding issues in Venezuela. The agreements reached in this second round of talks are a step toward enhancing media freedom and judicial integrity, crucial components of a democratic society. The continued dialogue and implementation of these agreements will be essential in shaping Venezuela’s political future.
