The Venezuelan diplomat will travel with his team to the United States in the coming days, confirmed Foreign Minister Yván Gil on Monday. It should be noted that on April 2, 2024, Plasencia was appointed Venezuela’s ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Gil made the announcement after Acting President Delcy Rodríguez received Laura Dogu, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America’s Office of Venezuela Affairs, at Miraflores Palace.

Plasencia served as Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2021 to 2022. Previously, he held the positions of Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, and at the Ministry of Tourism and Foreign Trade. From 2020 to 2021, he was Venezuela’s ambassador to China. On August 19, 2021, he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing Jorge Arreaza.
